While neither Giovanni Pernice or Maura Higgins have addressed their alleged split, eagle-eyed fans noticed they had deleted all traces of each other on their respective Instagram pages and unfollowed each other this week. The 31-year-old returns to the Strictly Come Dancing floor this weekend for another performance with his dance partner Rose Ayling-Ellis, 26.

Away from the show, he has had many public romances with stars including Love Island’s Maura, Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts and TOWIE’s Jessica Wright.

Following his split from Ashley, he discussed what he was like in a relationship.

Speaking to Heat Magazine in April, he said of his sex life: “If I’m in a relationship, it depends on your partner – if your partner is busy, if you’re tired, if you’re on holiday, at home.

“You can have sex 150 times a week or once – you’ve just got to make it good!”

He added of being single in lockdown: “Like for everybody, it’s been strange. I broke up with my girlfriend just before lockdown and you just deal with it.

“It was lonely, but luckily, Strictly came back and there was the distraction of being in quarantine with everybody else.

“It shifted my brain to something else.”

Giovanni has previously discussed what he believes his best and worse qualities are.

Speaking to The Sun, he spilled: “Best is that I’m a very loyal person, and the worst is my temper.

“When I have an argument, I can lose it quickly.”

The dancer also admitted his celebrity crush was Margot Robbie.

This week, a source told the publication that Maura is “devastated” by her alleged split with Giovanni.

They said: “It’s all over for now. Maura’s absolutely devastated, it appears the Strictly curse has struck again.

“Pals are hoping that they can patch things up. But only time will tell whether they’ll work things out as Giovanni is so busy.

“He’s been focusing on Strictly, training his celeb partner Rose 24/7, and they’ve become really good friends. He’s even been learning sign language from Rose, showing it off on social media.”

They added she had taken a “step back” to allow the dancer to concentrate on Strictly.

A representative for Giovanni refused to comment on the split claims, while a rep for Maura didn’t respond.

Tonight, the dancer and Rose will perform a Viennese Waltz to Fallin’ by Alicia Keys.

Last week, the duo scored 27 out of 40 points for their Cha Cha Cha.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 7.05pm on BBC One.
