Fern Britton tells fans ’you’re welcome to think I’m a pompous t**t’ as she talks new move

This Morning: Fern Britton reminisces with Eamonn and Ruth

Fern Britton took to Twitter to share some news with fans at the weekend. The TV star and author told her 79,000 followers that she would be very busy over the next six months as she is working on a new book.

The former This Morning presenter said she would be writing 24 hours a day and was unlikely to respond to messages and tweets as she normally would.

She went on to ask fans to forgive her and said they were welcome to think of her as a “pompous t**t” during her break from the social media site.

Over the last ten years, the 63-year-old has released a number of novels and short stories since stepping away from This Morning.

Her ninth novel, Daughters of Cornwall, which went on sale in June last year, became a number one Sunday Times bestselling book.

A Sunday evening, Fern spoke about her next release.

“The start of novel no 10. Over the next 6 months I shall be in an imagined world whilst outwardly looking as if I’m not working. I promise you I am.

“Forgive me if I don’t engage properly with you. I may be writing at any time 24/7.

“You are welcome to think I’m a pompous t**t,” she signed off.

Many took to the comments section of the post to share their thoughts and wish her luck with her writing.

“Would NEVER think that. Good luck with your novel,” one social media user wrote.

“Fern, I envy you , to lose yourself in an imaginary world, how fortunate are you, nothing pompous about it. And really whatever does it matter what anyone else thinks,” another added.

Sharing a similar thought, a third person remarked: “Can’t think of a better time to drift into a new imagined world – if only we could all get a ticket to come with you… we’ll be patiently waiting for the book but a selfish request- please no mention of covid.”

With the exception of 2017, Fern has penned one novel a year since 2011.

New Beginnings, a witty book about a TV presenter and single mother, was her debut and helped launch her new career.

Other work has included The Newcomer, Coming Home and A Seaside Affair.

Before embarking on life as an author, Fern was best known for hosting This Morning and ITV game show All Star Mr & Mrs with Phillip Schofield.

This January marks one year since Fern announced her separation from husband Phil Vickery following 20 years of marriage.

The presenter met the TV chef on the set of Ready Steady Cook back in the late 1990s.

The former couple, who tied the knot in 2000, share one daughter together – Winnie, 19.

Fern is also mum to twins Jack and Harry, 26, and Grace, 23, from her first marriage to Clive Jones.
