Emilia Clarke, Billy Porter and Ashley Graham lead Oscars best dressed 2019

The Oscars 2019 is here! After months of preparation, weeks about worrying about which designer to pick for their big moment, and minutes sat scribbling out their acceptances speeches, the great and good of Hollywood have descended upon LA for the star-studded Academy Awards.

Despite the red carpet not officially opening until midnight UK time, a few celebs were keen enough to start stalking down the hallowed hallway nearly three hours ahead of time.

And thank the lords of fashion they did, because some of this lot have been serving some serious lewks.

Fresh from filming the very last series of Game Of Thrones, Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) was one of the first stars on the red carpet, looking drop-dead gorgeous in a metallic lilac floor-length gown with a mermaid skirt.

She teamed the show-stopping dress with paired back hair, delicate silver earrings and a stunning red lip.

Another star making the Mirror’s best-dressed list is Billy Porter, who dropped jaws in his beautiful full-skirted tux-gown.

The Pose star is already well known for pushing the boundaries on the red carpet – who could forget that amazing pink and silver cape he wore at the Golden Globes last month? – and donned a black velvet Christian Siriano gown for the 91st Academy Awards.

And Ashley Graham seems to have taken inspiration from the Oscar statuette herself this year, choosing a gorgeous black floor-length dress that clung to her hourglass figure.

She teamed the simple, clean style with similarly simple diamond jewellery, and kept her long brunette hair swept up into a clean bun.

Marie Kondo sparked joy as she walked the red carpet for the first time since finding worldwide success with her cleaning and tidying regimes, which have now become the subject of a book and Netflix series.

Michelle Yeoh of Crazy Rich Asians looked sensational in a metallic and nude chiffon gown with a plunging off-the-shoulder neckline and embellished sequins dripping down the bodice and on to her skirt and train.

Her co-star Constance Wu looked equally as sophisticated in a bright, sunshine yellow vintage-style gown with off the shoulder whisper-thin sleeves.

She was joined by a purple-clad Spike Lee, who wore every single shade of purple he could find for his red carpet walk.

The legendary director teamed his eye-catching three-piece suit with two knuckleduster-style rings, one reading ‘love’ and the other ‘hate’.

Drag queen Shangela – who had a small role in Lady Gaga’s A Star Is Born – walked the red carpet in fabulous lilac.

The Ru Paul’s Drag Race artist, also known as Darius Jeremy Pierce, became the first person to walk the carpet in drag.

"Honestly, I’m just so grateful to be here," she told Variety.

"And I think I might be one of the first, if not the first, drag queens, in drag, to ever walk down the red carpet at the Oscars.

"And I hope that means something to somebody out there, because it means something to me."
