Dua Lipa’s Purple Mini Dress Will Totally Transport You Back to the Best of the ‘80s

Dua Lipa’s “Future Nostalgia” tour is truly the gift that keeps giving. Sure, Dua Lipa’s street style never misses, her bikinis are always a 10/10, and her red carpet style is to die for (remember the Versace bondage dress?) but it’s Dua’s on-stage wardrobe where her sartorial sensibilities really shine. The singer headlined a show at Primavera Sound, Barcelona’s top music festival, and you know she picked out a cute ‘fit to serve “Levitating” realness to the massive crowds.

Her space-cowboy outfits, hot pink catsuits, and neon lace boots, are all proof that Dua Lipa has come a long way from her days of go-girl-give-us-nothing dancing. The performance look she wore in Barcelona transported us right back to the ‘80s thanks to its bright violet goodness. Dua Lipa wore a bedazzled, deep purple corset with a draped overlay of studded chiffon that served as both a mini skirt and cover-up to transform the bodysuit into a dress. Her matching choker was made of the same purple chiffon. While you might be thinking that chokers and bright colors are only early 2000s styles, a lot of your favorite Y2K styles are actually based on ‘80s fashion because trends cycle back around every 15-20 years — hence why your mom keeps commenting how the neon lighting in Euphoria reminds her of the good old days.

Captioned “!PRIMAVERASOUND! 09.06.2022, Barcelona,” Dua Lipa’s photo proves that she continues to love a monochrome moment. Her color of choice this time around (a bright eggplant-violet purple) completely reminds us of zany, electric ‘80s fashion. The singer wore pastel lavender eyeshadow and an extreme winged liner that’ll pop on stage (even from the nosebleed section), finishing off her look with eye gems, fishnet stockings, purple ankle boots, and geometric earrings.

Dua Lipa’s stylist, Lorenzo Posocco, posted a video of her rocking out on stage with a group of backup dancers to “Love Again” from Future Nostalgia. The coordination! The outfits! The red lights! A whole production, if we do say so ourselves. Lavender has truly been all the rage for 2022 but Dua has us thinking that she might be onto something with the deep purple. But then again, we’d wear anything she wears — her closet is just that good.
