Director Joel Schumacher Reveals He’s Had Up to 20,000 Sexual Partners in His Life

Joel Schumacher is a director with lots of classic movies to his name and he just opened up about his sexual history in a new interview.

The 80-year-old filmmaker estimated the amount of sexual partners he has had in his life.

“Have you ever guessed the number of partners you’ve had?” a reporter for Vulture asked Joel. He responded, “It would be in the double-digit thousands, but that is not unusual.”

“Double-digit thousands. You mean like 2,000 or 3,000?” interviewer Andrew Goldman replied. Schumacher then said, “That’s not double digits, that’s single digits.” He then clarified that his number is around “10, or 20″ thousand.

Joel also talked about having a lot of sex as a young man, which he’s alluded to in past interviews.

“The whole thing started as a joke, when I was asked by journalists some question and I said, ‘I’m overpaid, I’m overprivileged, and I’m oversexed.’ That was a joke. Most gay men have many partners because it’s not a very ‘no’ culture. I started drinking at 9, smoking at 10, and fooling around sexually when I was 11,” he said. “I had three girlfriends I had sex with, and some of the guys on my baseball team, a couple guys in high school. I had my first love affair when I was 15 to 17, and he was 17 to 19. That was the first time I remembered really being in love with someone, or let’s say, infatuated. But we both had girlfriends.”

To put things into perspective, if Joel has been sexually active since he was 15, that is 65 years, which totals to 23,725 days. If the 20,000 number is accurate, he’s had a different sexual partner almost once a day since he was 15.

Some of the movies that Joel has directed include St. Elmo’s Fire, Flatliners, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, A Time ot Kill, Phone Booth, and The Phantom of the Opera.
