Denise Van Outen shares rare snap of daughter Betsy as she celebrates her 12th birthday

Denise Van Outen has shared a rare snap of her daughter Betsy as the pair celebrated the youngster’s 12th birthday, alongside former TOWIE star Lydia Bright and other pals.

Denise, 47, and the group celebrated Betsy’s birthday with a trip to Mersea Island, where they stayed in park lodges and enjoyed a party in one of the colourful huts on the beach.

The actress and presenter posted sweet snaps to her Instagram page, including one of her daughter, who she shares with ex-husband Lee Mead, smiling into the camera as she wore a bejewelled hat with the letter ‘B’ for Betsy on it.

The group got lucky with the sunshine, as Denise posted other heartwarming images of herself laughing with Betsy and posing on the beach with family and friends, including Lydia, her mother Debbie and her two year old daughter, Loretta.


Another snap showed a pink beach hut decorated with a plaque that read “Betsy”, and a banner which read: “Betsy is 12.”

She captioned the post: "BETSY is 12 bank holiday birthday fun with our West Mersea family @parkholidaysuk @alfieoneill_ @markyferry @lydiabright @xdebbietowiex @dave_thetiler @xgeorgiabrightx Loretta."

Denise’s famous friends flocked to the comments section to send birthday wishes to Betsy.

Former Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffat wrote: “Happy birthday Betsy xx.”

Actress Davinia Taylor commented: “Happiest of birthdays to you”, with two love heart emojis.


Ex-Blue boyband member, Duncan James wrote: “Awwwww happy bday Betsy.”

Denise clearly put her recent breakup with Eddie Boxshall behind her as she sang “Sweet Caroline” in a video that looked to filmed at a disco at the park where they were staying.

The clip captured Denise singing the song’s famous lines: “Good times never seemed so good. So good. So good.”

Denise broke up with her former partner Eddie after discovering that he had cheated on her numerous times and finding out he had been sexting other women.

The birthday trip is the second time Denise and her daughter have visited Mersea Island in recent months.

They last visited at the end of March, with Denise sharing a number of snaps of the trip, including the pink ‘Betsy’ beach hut, which it seems that she owns.

The family group were there to celebrate Mother’s Day, as Denise shared some wholesome pics of a Sunday roast at the West Mersea Oysters restaurant.

The table was sweetly decorated with Easter eggs and huge bouquets of flowers.
