‘Black Panther’ Named Best Film By African American Film Critics Association

Disney/Marvel’s ceiling-shattering blockbuster Black Panther topped this year’s African American Film Critics Association (AAFCA) Awards with a total of three wins including Best Film and a Best Director win for Ryan Coogler.

John David Washington nabbed the Best Actor award for his performances in the Spike Lee-directed film, BlacKkKlansman, which also won Best Screenplay. The group voted Regina Hall as Best Actress for her role in Support the Girls, while Regina King and Russell Hornsby picked up supporting acting honors for If Beale Street Could Talk and The Hate U Give, respectively.

The organization also revealed its top ten films of 2018 with Black Panther, A Star Is Born, Roma, and The Favourite among the list

AAFCA, the largest group of professional black film critics, will host its 10th annual AAFCA Awards GALA February 6 at the Taglyan Complex in Hollywood.
