Billie Faiers’ dad ‘barred from her wedding flight for being too drunk’

Billie Faiers faced huge disruption to her long-awaited wedding in the Maldives after her dad was prevented on getting on his flight – because he was too drunk.

Lee Faiers, who was previously addicted to speed after making millions of pounds as a market trader, downed champagne in the pre-flight lounge at Gatwick Airport, according to the Sun.

But he overindulged and was stopped from boarding the group’s flight to the Maldives because he’d had too much to drink – in turn delaying other people’s flights.

"Billie’s dad has been refused on the flight because he was too drunk and all the flights were delayed because of him," one witness told the newspaper .

"He delayed everything after that and other passengers were fuming when they saw what was going on."

Ferne McCann was forced to step in to console Lee, who was reportedly distraught that he’d put Billie and her fiance Greg Shepherd’s wedding plans at risk.

But after a while, Lee and Ferne were spotted giggling away "like naughty school kids" and – after Billie and her family begged airline staff – Lee was eventually let on the flight, along with the couple’s other wedding guests.

"It’s fair to say he saw the funny side but other passengers didn’t," the witness added.

Lee has previously opened up about his "frosty" relationship with daughters Billie and Sam Faiers, following a violent relationship with their mum Sue.

"I started taking speed because it was cheap, I was drinking non-stop and I became violent," Lee told the Daily Star in 2014.

"Sam and Billie knew about the violence. I can’t believe I put them through that."

Lee took the illegal drug amphetamine sulphate – known as speed – constantly for eight years after money woes sent his life spiralling out of control.

He didn’t see the girls for "a while" and was brushing his teeth with lager and living on a train at rock bottom.

"I want the girls to know how sorry I am. I don’t blame them if they don’t want me in their lives but it would mean everything if they gave me a chance," Lee said at the time.

The following year, Sam wrote in her autobiography that she, Billie and their mum "had no time for the man".

But relations between them thawed when Billie gave birth to daughter Nelly, then Arthur, and Sam welcomed baby Paul and Rosie with her partner Paul Knightley.
