Aston, 31, explains: “Honestly, for me, I had always said before I was never really interested in kids and marriage. Before meeting Sarah, I was just a bit like, I’m not bothered. Of course, I was a lot a younger and then as our relationship built and I thought yeah, this is the forever one, you kind of go OK, a family might come down the line. I was always happy with one, but at the same time, I can still carry two, so it’s perfect.” [Laughs]
“And we won’t be outnumbered! And for us, for Grayson to have a sibling is really lovely, especially so close in age,” adds Sarah.
The couple, who got engaged on Christmas Eve in 2017, also reveal that becoming parents has brought them closer than ever.
Sarah, 35, tells us: “We’ve been so lucky to have an amazing relationship but Grayson’s added something extra special.”
“We get it now but we didn’t before. We saw our friends having babies and we were like, that’s lovely, but we’re happy living the life we lived. But now, oh my goodness, it’s a whole new level of love, even me for Aston, seeing them together,” she explains.
Aston adds: “Yes, I think kids complete your relationship.”
The couple also reveal that little Grayson is looking forward to welcoming a sibling.
Aston, 31, says: “There’s a few times he’s pointed at Sarah’s tummy and said, baby!”
While Sarah adds: “We say that to him, and he’s been in all the scans.”
Aston and Sarah first met when Sarah was a dancer in JLS, becoming official in 2012, and reflecting on that period, Aston admits: “I wouldn’t have met Sarah if I wasn’t in the band.”
JLS first found fame on the X Factor, coming second to Alexandra Burke in series five of the talent contest. Aston took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2017, and went on to win the 2018 Christmas Special alongside professional dance partner, Janette Manrara.
Sarah now works as a dance teacher and choreographer, while Aston is looking forward to releasing new music in 2020.
