Ashley James’ son Alfie spends night in hospital on Christmas Day after constant sickness

Ashley James has revealed that her son Alfie was taken to hospital on Christmas Day after he was sick and it got "progressively worse".

Taking to Instagram on Sunday, the star, 34, shared her relief over being able to return home with her 11-month-old son on Boxing Day after an overnight stay.

Ashley said that Alfie had woke up being sick on Christmas Day morning, which got "progressively worse and more constant throughout the day".

After ringing 111, the star rushed Alfie to hospital where they had an overnight stay with her son on fluids and they were discharged at 9am on Sunday morning.

Ashley, who welcomed her first child with Tommy Andrews in January, admitted that it wasn't what she had planned for her first family Christmas but despite the scary incident it was still the "happiest Christmas" she's had in a long time.

Posting a collection of photos of her and Alfie in hospital, she penned: "Not how we planned to spend our first Christmas, but very happy to have just made it home in time to enjoy Boxing Day with all the family.

"Alf woke up on Christmas morning being sick and it got progressively worse and more constant throughout the day until we decided to call 111, where we had an impromptu overnight stay.

"Feeling incredibly grateful to all the doctors and nurses who work over the festive period to make our loved ones better. How lucky we are to have the NHS.

"Now I'm home to sleep and finish opening my presents. Alf has started biting me again when I go to feed him, so I suppose he feels back to normal too, so that's a new challenge for today.

"I have to say that even though Christmas didn't go to plan at all, I also noticed that my heart has never felt so full at this time of year ever. And feeling very grateful to have my family here all healthy. Thank you to everyone who reached out."

Ashley also took to her Instagram Story to share updates, where she penned: "Not where we planned to spend out first Christmas. Spending the night in hospital with my little guy.

"Feeling very grateful for all the amazing NHS working on Christmas Day. And despite Alf being sick, this is still the happiest Christmas I've had for a long time with my family."

She added: "This is weirdly still the best Christmas I can remember though. Getting to be with all my family, Tommy and having little Alf in the world.

"Hopefully next Christmas will be different, but it's all about love and I feel very loved and have never loved and been grateful so much."

Posting an update on Sunday morning after being discharged from hospital, she penned: "Just want to say we got out at 9 this morning. Alf had a night on fluids and had a wet nappy at 6am, and he's not been sick since last night.

"Wow I feel so lucky and grateful to all the NHS staff who gave up their Christmas with loved ones to look after our ones."
