Alizee Thevenet wore Carole Middleton’s wedding gown for her French wedding
James Middleton and Alizee Thevenet got married two weekends ago in the South of France. They had an intimate wedding by the sea, and James’ parents, sisters and brothers-in-law were all there. There was some belief that James would end up selling his wedding photos to one of the British papers or magazines, and look what we have here. The exclusive photos are featured in Hello Magazine, and Hello noted this: “HELLO! is making a donation to James’s charity Pets As Therapy in exchange for these exclusive photographs. Visit petsastherapy.org.” So he didn’t sell the wedding photos and pocket the money. He gave Hello the photos in exchange for a charitable donation? It could be both though, paying James and making a charitable donation. Anyway, you can see more photos here. Some highlights from Hello:
“My something borrowed was in fact my dress from my mother in law Carole who last wore it 41 years ago on her wedding day in June, 1980,” financial analyst Alizée explained.
She added that she first tried on her future mother-in-law’s wedding dress during lockdown, when she and James were residing in Bucklebury, Berkshire with his parents. “While talking about dresses with Carole and sharing ideas during lockdown for inspiration, I tried on her wedding dress and fell in love with it.
“It fitted me perfectly and was exactly what I wanted. It always troubled me that wedding dresses are only worn once so it was amazing to give such a beautiful dress a second lease of life,” she said.
To finish off her elegant look, the bride wore her hair in a chic half up half down style, secured in place with a flowing veil.
James and Alizée said ‘I do’ at the town hall in front of close friends and family, including Kate Middleton and Prince William, along with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, and Pippa Middleton and James Matthews, and their children Arthur and Grace.
Following their ceremony, the newlyweds drove to their beachside reception, Cafe Leoube, in a vintage 2CV.

I have to admit, I like Carole’s wedding gown too? It feels weird writing that, but the dress has got a real ‘70s boho aesthetic which I did not expect from Carole, and that aesthetic works really well on Alizee. I bet Carole was thrilled that her son’s wife wanted to wear her wedding gown. And honestly… Alizee looked like a much more relaxed and chic bride than Pippa on her wedding day. Is anyone else surprised that none of the wedding photos include William or Kate or their kids? I really want to know whether Kate basically wore white to another woman’s wedding again. I also want to see the wedding food! Alas, no photos of the food or the cake.
