Jake Quickenden wrote: “Well in girl x”, as Fleur East commented: “Wooooo! Yes girl.”

ITV also tweeted about the podcast, writing: “Yep, that’s right. We’re launching a brand new podcast, hosted by the absolute icon, @AlisonHammond.

“Talking to your favourite on-screen faces about the glue that holds us all together: telly.”

Alison’s appointment comes just days after it was claimed the former Big Brother star would be taking over hosting duties on This Morning from Ruth and Eamonn, both 60, during their regular Friday slot, which the presenting couple are reportedly unhappy about.

A source told The Mirror: “Eamonn is pretty furious and everyone feels for him and Ruth, they are well liked on the team, but sometimes tough decisions have to be made."

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, who present the show from Monday to Thursday, are said to be unaffected by the changes.

In an interview with Notebook, Ruth appeared to take a dig at rival Alison, pointing out that she and Eamonn had grafted to get where they are today.

She said: “We've put the work in. We didn't do a reality show and get an overnight job on the telly. We've come up through the ranks.

“Eamonn was only 19 when he started out. And he was doing the teatime news in Belfast during The Troubles.

“It was heavy stuff. And he's now got an OBE for services to broadcasting.”
