Powerlifter Jujimufu Tried to Do an American Ninja Warrior<\/em>-Style Obstacle Course

Bodybuilder and powerlifter Jujimufu, aka Jon Call, has taken on climbing training, gymnastics workouts, and even got savaged playing rugby, all in the name of his YouTube channel. In his latest video, Juji joins up with fellow powerlifter John Haack to explore how their size and strength might translate to an American Ninja Warrior-style obstacle course, where speed and accuracy are just as important as being able to lift their own bodyweight.

The pair are given coaching by athlete and former American Ninja Warrior contestant Anton Fomenko, who invites them into his gym to learn the basics. They start off with a simple agility course, which Juji dubs “baby steps.” It requires them to simply cross the room via a series of elevated surfaces at different angles. Essentially, the floor is lava. “Try to do it slower,” Fomenko advises, after both Juji and John fail their first attempt.

The next challenge involves hanging from a bar as it slides down a sloped pair of poles, then jumping and grabbing onto a suspended ladder and crossing it to a platform on the other side. “I’m going to die,” says John, who actually ends up clearing the course on his first try. Juji, who has recently brought his weight up to 250 pounds, struggles a little more with this one.

They both succeed when it comes to the “warped wall,” fully ascending and clearing a steep curved section of wall.

Then it’s time for them to run all three obstacle rounds in succession in order to name a winner. Naturally, this is where the competitive nature of both powerlifters comes out. And while placing so much force on such a small area of skin while jumping and grabbing leads to some literal wear and tear (John ends the challenge with bloodied hands), both he and Juji immensely enjoy the experience.
