Meghan Markle used Pinterest to find her wedding day look & same

Meghan Markle’s wedding may have been a royal one, but she prepared for it just like any other bride: with Pinterest.

This surprising insight into the 38-year-old Duchess of Sussex’s nuptials comes courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Daniel Martin, whom Markle tapped to glam her up on her special day. Martin spilled the royal tea on the inaugural episode of the Gloss Angeles podcast and revealed how Markle and he shared makeup inspo and nailed down her day-of look.

“I didn’t have a makeup trial with her because we couldn’t make the time,” he explained. “I knew what she liked and didn’t like. We exchanged Pinterest pictures over text.” Hey, we did the same thing with our (non-royal) friends.

Martin went on to add, “I think for anybody, Pinterest is an incredible tool to use as a reference. For the bride, that’s their red carpet moment. And I feel like you can’t stray too far from who you want to be and who you are because the last thing you want to do is look at these pictures and think, ‘I was not comfortable looking like that.’ You still have to have a sense of who you are.”

The Duchess of Sussex famously wore light makeup and let her freckles shine through for her wedding to Prince Harry, so it looks like Martin’s words definitely sunk in with her.

Martin also noted that using Pinterest’s skin tone filter helped them find makeup looks that were well suited for the duchess’s complexion.

We may not have a celebrated makeup artist on speed dial, but we definitely have the Pinterest app. For now, that’s definitely good enough.
