I Reach for This Lifting Serum When I Want to Feel Fancy

La Prairie Caviar Liquid Lift Serum

Right now, my life is all champagne dreams and caviar wishes.

Almost a year into this era of social distancing, I'm manifesting that I'll being able to go out for a nice dinner without having to sit bundled up in 30 degree weather by next winter. And maybe, by fall, getting a facial or massage will be relaxing once again.

Until the spread COVID-19 is curbed, I'm opting out of non-essential beauty treatments. Instead, I've been giving myself mini facials at home, or reaching for luxurious products during weeks that particularly feel like Groundhog Day.

La Prairie's Skin Caviar Liquid Lift is one serum I find myself going back to on days when my apartment feels like it's closing in around me. The silky texture, subtle (not irritating!) floral scent, and the fact that the hero ingredient is caviar makes massaging it into my skin a very fancy experience.

This formula is a revamp of the brand's best-seller, combing its signature Caviar Premiere and Caviar Absolute ingredients. It promises to instantly lift and firm the skin, as well as addressing skin sagging and facial volume loss over time.

Like the brand promises, I do feel a bit of a tingling "lifting effect" almost immediately after it absorbs into my skin. My face does look a bit tighter (without feeling like it) — a little bit like a lymphatic drainage massage with a gua sha or very, very gentle microcurrent device — but I'm also left with an unbelievably fresh glow.

While this anti-aging serum is potent, it plays nice with other ingredients I like to use in my routine. Since I have sensitive skin I opt to not use chemical exfoliants or retinol on nights when I treat my skin to Skin Caviar Liquid Lift, but I've used it with zinc, niacinamide, and peptides without any issues.

I'm going to be honest, at nearly $700, this serum is definitely indulgent. But if you've been saving money by not getting monthly facials for the past year, Skin Caviar Liquid Lift delivers results and (almost) makes you feel like you're back at the spa.

The Splurge is our recurring column dedicated to expensive beauty products that are worth it. This week, why we're rebuying La Prairie's Skin Caviar Liquid Lift despite the $690 price tag.
