Stunning pic shows fearsome mid-air battle between a huge eagle and a fox over their rabbit dinner – The Sun

THIS is the incredible moment a huge eagle and a fox go to war over a rabbit.

The stunning image shows the fox being lifted into the air by its winged nemesis as both refuse to let go of their prey.

The image was taken in the US and the photographer says the heartstopping scene ended with the eagle eventually dropping the fox and flying away with the rabbit.

He added that the fox escaped unharmed – although the rabbit wasn't so fortunate.

The pic was named among one of the best bird photography pics of 2019.

The stunning series of photos reveals the majesty of wild birds entered into this year’s National Audobon Society photography contest, the rest of which can be seen below.
