UK outlook for Saturday January 26 to Friday February 8

HEAVY rain and strong winds with snow developing in northern Scotland. Rain and winds will spread to western parts. Eastern England will stay dry, bright and breezy.

Sunday to be colder, brighter and windy with coastal wintry showers. Less windy on Monday and Tuesday but still cold and showery. Rain could turn to snow in the south Tuesday.

Sunshine and wintry showers on Wednesday, these becoming more confined to eastern and perhaps southern areas. Some sunshine before cloud and outbreaks of rain and hill snow move into the west by the end of Wednesday.

This will move east into Thursday as this changeable and at times unsettled and predominantly cold spell of weather keeps.

Chance of snow on lower levels at times, more so than during the cold weather so far as low pressure systems take a more southerly track towards Biscay, with overnight frost and ice still a risk.

Small chance of even colder conditions in early February with easterly or northeasterly winds dominating, bringing an increased possibility of disruptive snow.
