Following the tweet, many of Kay’s followers posted well wishes to the 58-year-old presenter, who has worked for Sky News since 1988.

Burley retweeted one user, John Fitzsimmons, who said: ‘London Underground staff always there to help, shoutout to them!’

Her post was liked over 290 times and the messages continues to pour in for Burley for over an hour after the original tweet was posted.

Wendy Kerfoot said: ‘Glad you’re feeling better Kay. Take care. And you’re right, most people are so lovely, despite how it feels when you’ve been on here for a while Have a peaceful weekend. ps You spelt Manchester wrong.’

Another user called John said: ‘Glad you are ok BUT ‘best city in the world’ , no. You are obviously talking about the people, therefore that goes to the people of Glasgow. …..and I’m from Edinburgh.’

It’s been a busy week for Burley who just yesterday presided over a political clash between MPs Bill Cash and Chuka Umunna as the two disagreed angrily over the Brexit deal.

As the pair argued, Burley had to intervene and said: ‘Right I think this is a conversation for the Wig and Pen or something, we’re losing our viewers on this one.’

On Wednesday evening she was also spotted out attending the Cirque de Soleil press event in London.
