Why did Ian and Peter Beale fall out in EastEnders and will they return to Walford together?

The trip comes after Ian revealed to Kathy that murderer Bobby Beale was being released from prison in the summer. But why are Ian and Peter not talking? And will Peter come back to Walford with his dad. Let’s have a quick recap.

Why did Ian and Peter Beale fall out in EastEnders?

Peter Beale fled to New Zealand with his pregnant girlfriend Lauren Branning after it was revealed that his half-brother Bobby had murdered Peter’s twin sister Lucy and that step-mum Jane had covered it up.

The father and son had also fallen out prior to this when Ian discovered that Peter had been supplying Lucy with cocaine before her death. Ian disowned him and through him out but Jane convinced Ian to let Peter move back in.

But when it was revealed that Bobby killed Lucy and that Jane had managed to convince him that it wasn’t him, Peter decided he couldn’t live with the secret.

He and Lauren then moved to New Zealand to stay with his step-brother Steven Beale.

When Lauren returned a while later she was accompanied by Steven who she was now in a relationship with. She revealed that Peter had fallen apart due to keeping the secret about Bobby and was drinking heavily.

Will Peter Beale return to Walford with Ian?

Kathy convinced Ian to head out to New Zealand and make amends with Peter before Bobby is released in the summer.

She told Ian that he needs to step up and be a dad to both Peter and Bobby and became excited about Bobby returning to Walford despite Ian’s concerns.

Ian booked a flight and revealed he was going to see Peter and tell him that Bobby is coming home.

It’s not been announced that Peter will be returning but there’s always the chance that a familiar face could pop up.

EastEnders producer Kate Oates has announced that she is bringing back three characters this year. Sean Slater and Ben Mitchell have already been announced so Peter could be the third.

It’s unlikely that Ben Hardy will return to play him though as he’s been enjoying a career in Hollywood since quitting the Square back in 2015.

Ben has starred in blockbusters like X-Men Apocalypse and Bohemian Rhapsody.

He also stars in Michael Bay movie Six Underground which will be out later this year.
