Who is Jesy Nelson and what is the Little Mix singer's documentary about?

JESY Nelson has achieved worldwide success with Little Mix after being discovered on The X Factor.

But while she's found fame and fortune, she has been unlucky in love and has had to face bullying from online trolls. Here's the lowdown…

Who is Jesy Nelson? What's her background?

Jesy Nelson was born on June 14, 1991, as Jessica Louise Nelson.

She was born in Romford, Essex, to parents John Nelson and Janice White.

She has an older sister Jade and two brothers, Joseph and Jonathan.

Jesy attended secondary school Jo Richardson Community School and Abbs Cross Academy and Arts College (in Hornchurch, Essex), where she was noted for being a dedicated drama and music student by her teachers.

She also attended Sylvia Young and Yvonne Rhodes Theatre Schools.

She worked as a bartender before being selected to compete on The X Factor.

All of the Little Mix girls auditioned on their own for The X Factor in 2011, and didn’t know each other before.

Jesy, along with Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirwall, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock were then put together as a four piece by the judges and went on to win the show.

Was Jesy Nelson really in Harry Potter and About a Boy?

Jesy has revealed her secret acting past appearing in box office smashing films, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and About A Boy.

The singer was being interviewed on Australian radio with her bandmates when the DJ unearthed her hidden past.

“Jesy you were in Harry Potter”, he asked.

To which Jesy excitedly exclaimed: “I was in Harry Potter!

“I’ve been in a few others hun, About A Boy with Hugh Grant.”

She added: “I was in About A Boy, you can see my little round head.”

When the DJ asked about her role in the 2002 film, Jade Thirlwall teased: “She was in an assembly room people 127.”

“And you can actually see me if you pause the tape,” added Jesy.

What is Jesy Nelson's BBC documentary about?

Jesy has chosen to share the effect online jabs about her weight have had on her in a new documentary, Jesy Nelson: My Story.

The singer explores the wider issues of body image and mental issues, telling fans that she wants to "make a change" with the project.

Taking to Instagram, she explained: "Mental health awareness is something we should all be talking about more. Having suffered myself I decided I want to do something about it.
She continued: "I'm making a film with the BBC, telling my own personal story and exploring how social media, body shaming and trolling is effecting the mental health of young people. More details coming soon."

The documentary will debut on BBC Three before airing on BBC One. An air date has yet to be announced.

Who is Jesy Nelson dating?

Jesy is currently dating Love Island star Chris Hughes after the pair confirmed their relationship in early March.

The couple have already been spied going on romantic dates earlier in the year.

Since becoming Instagram official, the pair have and been flaunting their love all over social media.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun Online about their romance earlier this week, Chris described the singer as his "best mate".

When was she engaged to Jake Roche?

The couple got engaged in July 2015.

But after spending long periods of time apart, Jake and Jesy split in November 2016.

Jesy called her break-up from the Rixton's frontman "horrendous" and "one of the worst pains".

When did Jesy date Towie's Chris Clark?

The pair confirmed their romance in February 2017 through a series of Instagram posts.

But it seemed the relationship was not meant to be and they soon broke up.

After the pair split, there were claims circulating that the couple broke up because Chris couldn't deal with the limelight.

But The Sun revealed Jesy’s friends fear reality TV star Chris may even have cooked up the short-lived romance for a publicity stunt.

Chris was revealed to have cruelly dumped Jesy out of the blue on the phone while she was away on tour in the US, giving little reason for his decision.

And contrary to reports that he was sad about the split, he was reportedly very blunt, making it clear there was no chance of a reconciliation.

Jesy’s friends fear the wannabe may have used her fame to boost his profile and has got back with his ex, Amber Dowding as a storyline for Towie.

Jesy moved one with musician Harry James in summer 2017, and even described him as "husband material".

However, it all came to an end in November 2018 as The Sun exclusively revealed that they had broken up after 16 months together.
