Where is Baptiste filmed? Amsterdam, Kent and Antwerp locations for BBC drama revealed

BAPTISTE has seen the return of Tchéky Karyo as detective Julien Baptiste.

But where was the spin-off of The Missing filmed? Here's what you need to know…

Where is Baptiste filmed?

Amsterdam

A large amount of the filming took place in Amsterdam.

When Julien and his wife are on a visit to Amsterdam, the Chief of Police – who also happens to be an old girlfriend – seeks out his help due to his renowned and methodical crime-solving skills.

Baptiste is rapidly embroiled in a case that looks beyond the beautiful streets, canals and houses of Amsterdam to the seamy underworld beneath.

Deal

Filming has then been moved to Kent town Deal.

The idyllic seaside town is also being used as a backdrop for ITV's Vanity Fair.

It's not known what scenes were shot there.

Antwerp

Baptiste also filmed parts in Belgium, specifically Antwerp, the most populous city proper in the country.

The port of Antwerp is one of the biggest in the world, ranking second in Europe.

The filming crew also planned to take a short trip south for some additional filming in port city Ghent.

What time is Baptiste on BBC One?

The last episode of the first series airs on Sunday, March 24 at 9pm on BBC One.

The series is made up of six episodes, which each last one hour.

The show is produced by Harry and Jack Williams of Two Brothers Pictures.

Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama, says, “Julien Baptiste – played by the exceptional Tchéky Karo – is one of the Williams brothers’ greatest creations and utterly deserving of his own show.

"This first series of Baptiste will allow us to discover more about Julien than ever before as he is parachuted into the centre of a shocking and wide-ranging crime story.”
