What is Matt LeBlanc's net worth, why is he leaving Top Gear and when did he play Joey Tribbiani in Friends?

Here's the inside track on the man who took over from Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear – and why he is now leaving the motor show.

How old is Matt LeBlanc?

Born Matthew Steven LeBlanc on July 25, 1967, in Newton, Massachusetts, the American actor first appeared in a 1987 advertisement for Heinz Tomato Ketchup.

Matt starred in television drama TV 101 before earning a recurring role on Fox's sitcom, Married…with Children.

Matt has also appeared in two of Jon Bon Jovi's music videos: Miracle in 1990 and Say It Isn't So in 2000.

The star married model Melissa McKnight in 2003 and the two had a daughter, Marina Pearl, who was born in 2004 before the couple divorced in late 2006.

When did he play Joey in Friends?

Matt is best known for portraying the loveable but dim-witted Joey Tribbiani on the popular sitcom Friends from 1994 to 2004 before reprising the role for a few more years on the spin-off series Joey.

Matt has said when he first auditioned for the role, he only had $11 in his bank account and used his first paycheck to buy himself a hot dinner.

By the final two seasons, Matt and the rest of the rest were each earning $1 million per episode.

He recently said his Friends co-star Jennifer Anniston was 'doing ok' following her split from Justin Theroux.

What's the Episode star's net worth?

Latest estimates put Matt's net-worth at $60million, which puts the actor near the bottom in comparison to his former Friends co-stars.

Following the unsuccessful Joey spin-off, Matt took an extended break from acting before returning in 2011 with his Golden-Globe winning role in Episodes.

In 2016, Matt signed a new £2million two-year deal to host Top Gear before listing his home in California for $8.75million.

In May 2018 it was confirmed that Matt would leave Top Gear at the end of the next series.

He said he was leaving the show to spend more time with his family and friends.

He added: "It's unfortunate, but for these reasons I will not be continuing my involvement with the show.

"I will forever be a Top Gear fan and I wish the team continued success. Thanks for a great drive."
