Strictly Bosses thrown into CHAOS by Darcey Bussell’s ‘surprise’ exit

Strictly Come Dancing bosses were apparently taken by surprise when Darcey Bussell quit the show earlier this month.

The judge, who had become a beloved part of the series over the last few years, shocked fans when she revealed plans to step down.

It turns that it wasn’t just fans who were surprised by Darcey’s exit.

According to reports, BBC bosses were just as caught off-guard by the shocking news.

“I think they [bosses] were caught a bit by surprise by Darcey, it wasn’t like the end of the series when she said she was leaving,” Anton Du Beke told MailOnline.

“I haven’t spoken to her about it, and it’s caught everybody a bit on the hop, but they’ve got the whole summer to organise it, they’ll go through a process which they have to do”

“She’s wonderful on the show and I know when she joined it was a great coup and I think everybody was delighted about it, having someone of her gravitas just added to the show.

“It just added to the quality.”

There’s still no announcement from the BBC about who will be replacing Darcey, but there’s already numerous names being thrown into the hat.

Nicole Scherzinger is thought to be in the running, as well as the likes of Oti Mabuse and Louis Smith.

Insiders have also alleged to The Sun that producers are considering making dancer Carlos Acosta a £400,000 offer to replace Darcey.

“Carlos is a huge name in the dance world and has been on Strictly’s radar for a long time,” claimed a source.

Strictly Come Dancing will return to screens on BBC One later this year
