Jersey Shore’s Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino goes to prison for eight months TODAY after being convicted of tax evasion

The former MTV star, 36, was convicted of tax evasion in October alongside his brother Marc, 38, who was given two years behind bars.

Mike is set to voluntarily surrender before noon to the Federal Correction Institute in Otisville, New York, today, according to TMZ.

Taking to his social media channels, he shared his mailing address at the New York correctional facility, encouraging fans to write to him.

Ahead of his incarceration, Mike will only be permitted to retain certain items when he surrenders to authorities, according to The Blast.

The publication states that according to the Bureau of Prisons, the TV star will be "allowed to keep medical or orthopaedic devices, legal documents, prescription eye glasses and religious items, as long as they do not pose a security threat."

The Situation will also get to keep a "plain wedding band, as long as it does not contain any stones or intricate markings."

Mike and his brother Marc were originally supposed to be sentenced in April.

With the help of the delay, Mike married his long-term girlfriend Lauren Pesce in November and got to spend the holidays with his family.

In April, the reality TV star popped the question on Jersey Shore: Family Vacation and admitted it had been his "dream" to ask for Lauren to marry him on the series.

He said: "I have always dreamed of proposing on Jersey Shore, the show that introduced me to the world.

"I'm currently living the dream and proposed to my college sweetheart, Lauren Pesce, amongst my best friends on the biggest reality show in the country."

The pair were in a relationship for four years before Mike joined Jersey Shore in 2009, which catapulted him to fame, before going their separate ways.

But they rekindled their romance in 2012, the year the series came to an end.
