EastEnders reveals surprise romance for unexpected couple

Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) has had it rough this past couple of years in EastEnders, but could he be set to find love once more?

The former copper was left devastated back in 2017 when his wife Ronnie Mitchell (Samantha Womack) died after a freak accident involving her sister, Roxy (Rita Simons). After this tragedy, it seemed like Jack would never be happy again, but that all changed when Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) made her highly anticipated return to Walford last year.

However, what with Jack having played a significant part in the imprisonment of Mel’s son Hunter (Charlie Winter), it’s safe to assume that this ship has well and truly sailed.

With the Walford businessman having moved on and ready to start anew, could Denise Fox (Diane Parish) be next in line to win his heart? This week, Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) attempts to play match-maker for one of Linda’s (Kellie Bright) mates, but the Queen Vic landlord inadvertently ends up pushing Jack towards Denise in the process.

Will romance ensue between the former policeman and the Fox & Hair manager?

Denise is seemingly looking for someone of a similar age — after she dumped Kush (Davood Ghadami) upon her return to Walford earlier this year — so perhaps Jack will prove to be the man for her?

Mel might not have romance in mind, but she’s still pursuing Jack for revenge purposes. As a result, she is taken aback when she learns of his date — but ends up babysitting Amy for him anyway.

Will Jack’s blossoming love life throw a spanner in the works for the E20 club manager?
