Britain's Got Talent magician X is the 'spookiest' act the show's ever seen – but how did he pull off THAT trick and were Ant and Dec in on it?

BRITAIN'S Got Talent returns tonight with another stream of talented contestants vying for one of the judges' to press their Golden Buzzer.

One of the acts hoping to wow the judges and make it through to the semi-finals is a magician known simply as X, who get hosts Ant and Dec involved.

How did magician X perform the trick?

The white masked performer asks BGT hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly to partake in the act.

Immediately he unsettles the TV presenters as he breaks with tradition and asks them to sit the "wrong way round".

The cheeky Geordie duo, both 43, famously always stand with Ant on Dec's right.

As he sits Dec in the seat to his right and Ant to his left, Ant exclaims: "Ooh, the wrong way round!"

X then gets the pair to close their eyes as he performs his trick, which viewers will see in full on tonight's show.

Were Ant & Dec in on the act?

The presenting duo, who have won the NTA for Best Presenter 18 years in a row, appeared shocked to be asked to take part in sneak peek images ahead of tonight's show.

Although it isn't yet known how they are exactly approached by X to be in involved in the performance, they willing volunteer for the mysterious performer.

They seem not to know what's ahead of them after the magician asked them to sit the "wrong way round" then how they usually appear.

Who is the magician known as X?

Little is known about the mysterious performer known as X.

Keeping his identity hidden, he arrives on stage wearing a white masquerade mask and a black hood over his head.

Continuing his enigmatic appearance, he sports a black suit with a black shirt and leather gloves.

All the magician has on stage is two chairs and a table, which he gets Ant & Dec to sit at.

When is the Britain's Got Talent 2019 final on TV?

The BGT final date hasn't been confirmed just yet.

For the past few years, the show has run for eight weeks and ends on the Saturday or Sunday after semi-final week.

So this year, that means the final could fall on May 25/26.

The new series kicked off on April 6 at 8pm on ITV.
