Wednesday racing tips: A Wednesday longshot to fill your pockets at Chester from Jack Keene

I BLOODY love the Chester May meeting, and it is shaping up to be as competitive as ever this year.

There is plenty of depth in both the Cheshire Oaks and Chester Vase, but the race of the day for me is the Boodles Diamond Handicap.

This three-year-old sprint is absolutely red-hot and they should go a fierce gallop, something which could play into the hands of top-weight DAVE DEXTER (3.00 Chester).

There are any number of progressive speedsters in here, but Ralph Beckett's charge brings a rock-solid level of form to the table.

He has been gelded since a below-par run to end his two-year-old season, but that flop came over 6f and he is an out-and-out 5f horse.

He is drawn wide here but that's not too much of a concern as he will be dropped in, and with several front-runners in the field I'm predicting a pace meltdown in the closing stages.

There could be significant rainfall in the lead-up to racing, and if the ground were to deteriorate significantly that would only boost his chance.

He has a course and distance victory to his name, goes well fresh and, for all this is a deep contest, he is technically taking a drop in class.
