Racing review: Hotpots and howlers from the last seven days in the world of horse racing

ANOTHER week has flown by in the world of racing. There's been plenty to discuss on and off the track.

Take a look at our latest instalment of Hotpots and Howlers, where we pick out the good, the bad and the downright ugly from the past seven days.

Hotpots

Jamie Spencer is a jockey who very often divides opinion.

There is no doubting his talent, but he has been the scourge of punters on several occasions when overdoing waiting tactics (though when he pulls it off it looks brilliant).

I've always been a big fan of his, and it was great to see him back in the big time when steering Phoenix Of Spain to a brilliant success in the Irish 2000 Guineas.

That was his seventh Classic win and it came hot on the heels of a superbly-timed ride aboard Mr Lupton to win the Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh. Spencer is back, and it could get even better for him if East wins the Irish 1000 on Sunday.
