Man City and Guardiola will fear Yaya Toure debut on Monday Night Football after racism blast

The Ivorian, 35, made over 300 appearances over eight years at City – but has been without a club since leaving Olympiakos in December.

And all eyes are expected to be glued to the former midfielder after he famously fell out with boss Pep Guardiola during his time at the Etihad.

Last year, Toure hit out at his then-boss, claiming Guardiola had a "problem with black players" – adding Barcelona players felt that way too.

Toure told France Football: "He was cruel with me. It got to the point I asked myself if it was because of my colour.

"I'm not the first, other Barca players asked the question too. Maybe us Africans aren't always treated the same by certain people.

Yaya Toure at Man City: The stats

"When you see the problems he [Pep] has often had with African players, everywhere he has been, I ask myself questions.

"He's too intelligent to be caught. He'll never admit it [not liking Africans]. But the day he picks a team with five Africans in, I promise I will send him a cake!"

The rift continued at the start of this season too, when Toure's agent trolled the Prem-winning boss with a voodoo cartoon after City lost their Champions League opener.

Dimitry Seluk tweeted a cartoon image of Toure in traditional African dress, sticking a needle into a Pep doll showing Guardiola's backside being stung.

Toure quit Man City in the summer after nearly a decade and three Premier League titles to join Olympiakos.

However, last month his contract was terminated by mutual consent after just two league games – with a return to England reportedly on the cards.

Now, the 101-cap international will watch his former side take on Wolves, as they aim to close the gap to league-leaders Liverpool to four points.
