Macclesfield sell bottles of Sol beer to celebrate Sol Campbell’s first home game

Campbell, 44, landed his first managerial role in November taking over with the Silkmen sitting bottom of League Two.

The former Arsenal and Tottenham center-back saw Macclesfield lose his opening League Two game as Colchester won 1-0 at home.

However, Campbell will take his first game at Moss Rose on Saturday as Macclesfield host Crawley.

Macclesfield are set to stock Sol beers in celebration of Campbell’s first home game with the club.

Campbell’s ex-England team-mates Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard have both landed managerial jobs at Rangers and Derby County respectively.

However, Campbell said he had to apply for a number of jobs until he was given his first role in charge of a club.

Macclesfield have hit a spot of form as they won two of their last three matches, despite the fact Campbell was not officially in charge for either win.

Campbell took his side to St James' Park on December 4 as they were beaten on a penalty shoot-out against Newcastle's under-21s in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Macclesfield are at the foot of the league three points behind second-bottom Notts County, a team Campbell once played for.
