Ferdinand backs Man Utd to go through with Spurs, Liverpool and Juventus.. and fans mock 'deluded' pundit

RIO FERDINAND followed his heart and claimed Manchester United can reach the Champions League semi-finals despite defeat against Barcelona.

The former Old Trafford star was asked for his predictions following the first legs of the quarter-finals.

And he thinks Ole Gunnar Solskjaer can pull off another miracle in Barcelona – if Lionel Messi has an off night.

Ferdinand, 40, told BT Sport: "Liverpool will go through. Spurs will go through after last night. Juventus will go through.

"And my heart says Man United will go through. My head? Depends which (Lionel) Messi turns up."

Manchester City fans were quick to jump on Ferdinand's predictions – probably because he backed Tottenham to maintain their first-leg advantage.

One wrote: "So you believe that Man City can't defeat Spurs at home but united can defeat Barca at Camp Nou. You are not biased at all, are you?"

A Chelsea supporter added: "Haha ferdinand is deluded hahahahhahaaj".

United fans were more pleased with the comments, however, as Ferdinand backed his former employers.

One replied: "Love that, gotta have faith Rio!"

While another added: "Rio always a devil".

Although some were concerned about City showing their true colours, explaining: "I completely agree with this however I wouldn’t be surprised if City smash Spurs in the next game".
