Dillian Whyte has been shot, stabbed and beaten up… but insists appearing on Masterchef was hardest thing he has done – The Sun

DILLIAN WHYTE has been shot, stabbed and beaten up — but starring in MasterChef was one of the hardest things he has faced.

The reformed Brixton bad boy, who lived in Jamaica until he was 12, swapped boxing gloves for oven mitts and an apron.

And, despite two wins over warhorse Dereck Chisora and climbing off the deck to beat ex-WBO king Joseph Parker, beating eggs alongside Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock and Greg Rutherford was a stiffer test.

Whyte, 31, fights Colombian Oscar Rivas, 32, on Saturday for the WBC interim heavyweight title and a mandatory shot at Deontay Wilder’s belt.

Ahead of his showdown at London’s O2, he said: “I could cook from my days in Jamaica.

“But there is cooking to survive and there is MasterChef when your stuff is getting judged by professionals.

“Why would I be worried about it harming my reputation? There’s nothing unmanly about being able to cook.

“Mum showed me a few things but I wanted to do this by myself and it’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done.”

Mum Jane used to cook all of his favourites, like rice and peas and saltfish, but watching him fight was hard to stomach.

Yet the whole family can enjoy the prime-time BBC show this summer and dine out on his huge crossover success.

Whyte said: “My mum doesn’t like watching my fights — but she will enjoy the show.

“No mum likes watching her son getting punched.

“The pressure for her is double what it is for me in the ring because I’m her baby and always will be.” Whyte’s doubters think he has bitten off more than he can chew in taking on unbeaten Rivas.

The Canada-based slugger beat unified champ and Anthony Joshua-slayer Andy Ruiz Jr in the amateur ranks.

And the visiting underdog said: “Amateur boxing gave me a lot of experience

“I am going to take all that into this fight but the pro game is very different.”
