BT Sport host Humphrey forced to apologise after gaffe before Arsenal clash with Valencia in Europa League

BT SPORT were forced to apologise tonight after a commentary gaffe during Arsenal's crunch Europa League clash with Valencia.

The Gunners went into the match with a 3-1 lead, with thousands of viewers turning on the TV to catch the action.

But Jake Humphrey had to say sorry less than a minute in after commentator Ian Darke and partner Robbie Savage were silenced and their sound cut off.

After a few seconds, Humphrey had to cut across the live coverage for the temporary mix-up.

He said: "Ok, apologies for the problems with the sound there.

"We'll get back to Ian Darke and Robbie Savage as soon as we can."

Over the next five minutes Martin Keown and John Hartson had to describe what they were seeing from the studio.

Viewers took to social media to point out the gaffe and complain.

One said: "Please turn the commentary back on. This is awful haha."

Another added: "This has all got fairly awkward."
