Maisie Williams reminds ‘Game of Thrones’ fans her family saw that sex scene: ‘Kill me’

Maisie Williams understands if you felt uncomfortable watching Arya Stark, her “Game of Thrones” star character, lose her virginity during Sunday’s episode. But Williams doesn’t feel bad for you.

“If u feel uncomfortable just know that my mother and my stepdad and my 2 sisters and my 4 brothers have all probably watched this too,” the actress tweeted Tuesday. Then she interrupted her laughter to say, “Kill me.”

See? It’s all about perspective.

As the inhabitants of Winterfell prepared to defend the castle against the army of the dead, Arya, now an adult and a formidable fighter, decided that if she was going to die, she was going to have sex first and she wanted it to be with Gendry (Joe Dempsie), whom she’d had a crush on ever since they met in Season 1.

Arya took charge of the scene from start to finish, even telling Gendry, “Take your own bloody pants off.”

Williams herself was in control, too. She told Entertainment Weekly that creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss told her, “You can show as much or as little as you want.”

Though she ultimately did take her top off, Williams said the scene wasn’t about nudity. It was about Arya finding her humanity again after years of thinking only about survival and getting revenge against the people who killed her family.

“This is something she’s stayed away from, an emotion we’ve never really seen her engage with,” she told EW. “David and Dan were like, ‘It’s the end of the world, what else would you have her do?’ “
