Angry parents are shaming their kids by sharing photos of their messy bedrooms

As a parent, you'll be forever telling your kids to do this or that and asking them to help out around the house – it's only fair, you did give them life after all.

But above anything else, there's one thing you'll nag them about the most.

And that's the state of their bedroom.

Many will know the frustration that comes with your children promising to tidy their room, only for you to go in it the next day and it still look like a bomb has gone off.

One angry dad finally snapped and decided he wouldn't put up with his daughter's mess any longer, so he came up with a way to get his own back.

BBC presenter Nicky Campbell recently uploaded a photo of his teenager's untidy room to Twitter for all to see.

Sharing the snap with his 142,000 followers, he said: "This is completely unacceptable. You are nearly 19 years old and I am bloody sick of it. I don’t care that you were going to tidy it up. It just really p***es me off."

More than 6,000 people liked the photo, with over 2,000 commenting on it.

Following the success of the tweet, Nicky admitted that it was actually meant as a joke, explaining: "It’s a teenage bedroom frustrated parent cliché trope joke which amused and was liked by a many people and parents including my daughter who is actually 21 who helped with the photograph of her scandalously untidy bedroom."

However that didn't stop dozens of other parents from jumping on the bandwagon and shaming their own children.

One mum replied with a photo showing plates, mugs and various items of clothing on a floor, saying: "I'll take your 19-year-old and raise you my 22-year-old medical student son, who's been home for 'minutes'…."

Another shared one of their daughter's unmade bed, surrounded by all sorts of things, writing: "Its not just you Nicky. Have a great weekend."

A third added: "Mine is nearly 20 and it’s still like that when she’s back from uni. I get 'it’s only clothes' or 'I was about to tidy'. I try and shut the door and ignore but it grates!"
