‘American Horror Story’: Ryan Murphy teases ’80s slasher scares in new season

Is it just us, or does it feel like the 1980s all over again?

With a third season of Netflix’s “Stranger Things” arriving this Independence Day, and “Wonder Woman 1984” due in theaters next summer, producer Ryan Murphy is hopping on the nostalgia train with “American Horror Story: 1984.”

The ninth season of FX’s hit horror anthology series will pay tribute to ’80s slasher movies when it premieres this fall, Murphy revealed in an Instagram post Wednesday. He teased the new episodes with a creepy trailer of a young woman being chased through the woods by a knife-wielding killer, accompanied by a song from pop music’s “It girl” Billie Eilish called “Six Feet Under.”

“AHS” regular Emma Roberts will be returning for the new season, although Evan Peters will not. Olympic medalist Gus Kenworthy will join the cast, playing the boyfriend of Roberts’ character.
