The Top 10 Beauty Looks at the 2019 Oscars, Ranked!

Pretty spectacular! The A-list stars of film stepped out on Sunday, February 24, for the Oscars wearing the most exciting red carpet style of Awards Season 2019, including dramatic gowns worn by Emma Stone (futuristic bronze cap sleeves by Louis Vuitton), a flowy pink frock on Gemma Chan and a mirrored long sleeve, high neck Tom Ford confection seen on Jennifer Lopez.

The hair and makeup looks followed suit! Stars shined bright wearing center-parted sleek updos, bobs of all lengths and textures and makeup in myriad hues (hello, Laura Harrier, with your sky blue eyes and Constance Wu wearing punchy berry lips!) Tully star Charlize Theron made waves with an all new rich brunette blunt bob debuted specifically for the Oscars red carpet. Game of Thrones goddess Emilia Clarke switched her haircolor to a deep auburn chestnut hue for the occasion, too. Angela Bassett delighted in a mega-long ponytail resplendent with textured curls.

Even the guys brought the glamour. Billy Porter delighted in a tuxedo ball gown custom created by Christian Siriano and Jason Momoa rocked a couture rose-blush srunchi made for him by Fendi.

Indeed, there were many exciting moves on the Oscars 2019 red carpet, but these made our list for the boldest and brightest. Scroll through to see the top ten looks of the night, ranked by Us Weekly executive beauty and style editor Gwen Flamberg, then check out the stars’ glam squad pro’s tips and trick and scoop up the products they used to create the looks for Hollywood’s biggest night!

10. Laura Harrier’s Coral Lips

Subtly sexy! Watercolor makeup hues defined the BlacKkKlansman actress’ features in a decidedly fresh way. Makeup artist Hung Vanngo says he was inspired by the blue of her Louis Vuitton two-piece dress and wanted her eyes to reflect similar hues. After prepping Harrier’s skin with Chanel Hydra Beauty Camellia Water Cream (available in March), he evened out her complexion with Chanel’s new Ultra Le Teint makeup, applying shade BR92 on the inner part of her face and BR102 on the outer part and on her neck. He boosted her glow with a sweep of Le Lion de Chanel Illuminating Powder on cheebones, nose and forehead. Vanngo lined outer lashlines in an Espresso long lasting eye pencil, then created the powder blue eye with a sweep of Chanel Ombre Premiere in Pourpre Profond along upper and lower lashes and in the crease, then defined the center of lids in Nuage Bleu. For the sumptuous peach lip, he dabbed on Chanel Rouge Coco Flash in Beat.

9. Brie Larson’s Sexy Bends

Golden girl: When the Captain Marvel star hit the red carpet, her hairstylist Bryce Scarlett wanted her hair “to have a cool girl slept-in texture.” To achieve the soft, but not overly shiny, texture he desired, Scarlett prepped hair with a dime size drop of Moroccanoil Treatment Light before applying Volumizing Mousse at the roots and Blow Dry Concentrate at the ends. After blow drying and making S waves on a styling iron, he tousled waves with his fingers, then spritzed hair with Moroccanoil Dry Texture Dry texturizing spray throughout, to get that lived-in finish. The perfect makeup move to match the languid hair? A lipcolor that looked like a natural pout, just a touch bolder. Makeup artist Nina Park layered Chanel products to create the unique shade: Le Rouge Crayon de Couleur in No.5 to “outdraw the shape of her lips” then filled in with Le Crayon Levres in Bois de Rose. A sweep of Rouge Coco Flash in Chicness boosted shine.

8. Awkwafina’s Girly Vibe

Funny lady: Who doesn’t love the Crazy Rich Asians comedic sidekick at first sight? For the Oscars, she hit the red carpet in a whimsical pastel suit with makeup that had a decidedly feminine edge. Her makeup pro, Mai Quynh, explains “her pink suit had a flirty spring feeling, so I wanted to incorporate that into the makeup look.” After prepping skin with Kiehl’s Calndula & Aloe Soothing Hydration Masque, Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate and Buttermask for Lips, she imparted washes of color using Giorgio Armani Neo Nude A-Blush in 50 on cheeks, Eye Tint Eyeshadow in 12 and Lip Magnet Liquid Lipstick in 508.

7. Regina King’s Next Level Glow

Winning! The If Beale Street Could Talk best supporting actress winner’s skin glowed almost as brightly as her new Oscar statue. Her makeup artist, Latrice Johnson, prepped skin with Koh Gen Do Herbal Mist and Macro Vintage T3 Premium Oil before blending on Aqua Foundation 301. To boost the glow further, she dabbed cheekbones with Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Highlighter + Balm Duo. She then made up eyes using shimmering shades from the Pat McGrath Mothership II: Sublime Palette on lids and lined lashes with Permagel Ultra Glide Eye Pencil in Xtreme Black, topping off lashes with FetishEyes Mascara.

6. Letitia Wright’s Pearl-Encrusted ‘Do

She’s a gem! For the Black Panther breakout? A slicked-back bauble-adorned look created by hair pro Ursula Stephen. After running a dollop of Dove Style+Care Curls Defining Mousse through to nourish locks, Stephen blow-dried hair then coated strands with Dove Style+Care Heat Protection Spray before flat-ironing. She then used her press comb heated in a ceramic heater stove to add mega shine. A spritz of Love Beauty and Planet Coconut Milk & White Jasmine Soft Hold & Shine Hair Spray mixed with a strong hold gel set the texture to hold the accessories. Stephen then added pins adorned with pearls thoughout “for a show-stopping red carpet look.”
