Diane von Fürstenberg’s 19-Year-Old Granddaughter Launches Her First Capsule Collection for the Brand

When the iconic womenswear brand Diane von Fürstenberg was looking to attract a slightly younger audience with its latest collaboration, it picked a designer who takes after the founder of the brand’s own heart — Diane von Fürstenberg’s 19-year-old granddaughter, Talita von Fürstenberg.

“When I was 6 I asked my grandma if I could change the name of the brand to Talita Von Fürstenberg once I took over the reins.” Talita tells PEOPLE about her famous grandmother. “I’ve always wanted to work with DVF. I’m so incredibly honored and excited to finally get to be part of such an amazing company…and, well, my collection is called TVF so it’s not that far off from my childhood vision.”

Talita, who’s the daughter of Diane’s son, Prince Alexander von Fürstenberg, is a full-time student at Georgetown University as a Justice and Peace major and has been traveling to DVF headquarters in New York City (which is now run by designer Nathan Jenden) every week to further her design education. Her capsule collection, named TVF for DVF, was targeted to a slightly younger demographic than the usual DVF clientele.

“The DVF women represents a working woman, she’s professional, sexy, looking for effortless clothes that shift from office to evening,” says Talita. “The TVF girl sits within a younger, more contemporary demographic. My goal is the TVF customer will develop into the DVF brand as she matures and her needs change. I wanted it to feel like its own independent unit while still complimenting and honoring the brand my grandmother has built.”

The capsule collection consists of 23 feminine pieces in delicate floral prints and soft color palettes and is just the first in a series of capsules that will be released by Talita.

For the Spring collection, the way Talita gathered inspiration was the same way as her grandmother — by being in nature.

“Growing up I spent a lot time traveling with her and she would always carry a camera when we went for walks and take close up pictures of nature (leaves, water, flowers, etc.) and told me that the most beautiful prints are in nature,” Talita says about Diane. “This definitely stuck with me for the inspiration of my first collection and wanted to make sure every piece was something I personally would want and love to wear.”

The collection launches on DVF.com today with prices ranging from $148-$298.
