Tina Brown thinks women should compete against each other ‘in a healthy way’

Tina Brown is all for women coming together to save the world, but she also believes a little competition is OK.

When Page Six asked Brown if she believes women should team up with each other or face off against each other, she said, “They can do both.”

“I mean women can compete in a healthy way,” she told us at the opening night of her 10th annual Women in the World Summit on Friday at Lincoln Center.  “[Women] are so great right now at just calming the situation down from the crazy masculine mayhem that we’re seeing at every front.”

The 65-year-old journalist also explained that this year’s three-day summit, which attracted the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Brie Larson and Padma Lakshmi on opening night, is more relevant than ever.

“The mission has met the moment,” she told us. “We started in 2010 when these things were bubbling but not on the forefront of the agenda, and of course, as it’s exploded we’ve also been right out there on the forefront of it all. It’s an incredibly exciting milestone for me.”

The summit features events and panel discussions surrounding the question, “Can women save the world?” — to which Brown told us, “They are saving the world.”

Women in the World 2019 will continue through Friday, bringing in big stars such as Ashley Judd, Stacey Abrams, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Anna Wintour, Brooke Baldwin and Bryan Cranston.
