Michelle Williams & New Husband Split — After Just SIX MONTHS!
Already?! So sad!
We told you last year about how Michelle Williams secretly got married to a man with whom she shared an enormous loss.
Just as Michelle had lost Heath Ledger years before, musician Phil Elverum lost his wife shortly after their daughter was born.
Both single parents who had lost their counterpart, the two found one another in what seemed like a beautiful twist of fate.
Unfortunately that’s not the world we live in, and love is dead.
Earlier this month Michelle was seen on the red carpet without her wedding ring, leading some to suspect perhaps things were not going so well — but it seemed so unlikely.
After all the couple had been married less than a year — and they weren’t kids, you know what we mean?
They’d both been through this before, they had their children to think of.
But alas, we were being too idealistic we suppose.
On Friday, a source spilled to People not only have the couple indeed split — they did so quite a while ago. The insider revealed:
“Michelle and Phil separated at the beginning of the year. It was an amicable spilt and they remain friends.”
The exact date of the (former) couple’s secret nuptials are unknown — as is that of their breakup we suppose.
However, we do know they were married in July 2018. And if we can take “beginning of the year” to mean January, the marriage only lasted SIX MONTHS!
A marriage that short puts them into rarified air with the likes of Kim Kardashian West and Pamela Anderson. We just didn’t see that coming for these two.
Like we said, the couple seemed like they had been through enough to know better not to jump into something that wasn’t right.
So much for the “spiritual connection” we heard so much about.
One thing we can be sure of at least — Michelle is making decisions in the interest of herself and her daughter Matilda.
As she said in an interview with Vanity Fair last year:
“Don’t settle. Don’t settle for something that feels like a prison, or is hard, or hurts you. If it doesn’t feel like love, it’s not love.”
Unfortunately she said that when talking about why her new marriage did work, but… it’s a good way to live.
We hope everyone’s heart is doing OK. This can’t have been an easy decision.
