UK weather today: Exact date temperatures will plummet to 8C – with heavy rain and more thunderstorms on the way | The Sun
TEMPERATURES are set to plummet to a chilly 8C this week – with heavy rain and more thunderstorms on the way.
The Met Office said the weather is set to start cooling down, bringing rain and breezy winds.
And it's set to drop to a nippy 8C in Scotland on Friday morning – while much of the country will be sitting in the low teens.
While today has started off fine, the forecasters say it will quickly cloud over before rain starts moving across the southwest during the day.
Heavy showers are likely to hit Scotland, with the mercury feeling warned in the east of the UK and cooler in the southwest.
Tonight showers are looking to push across Northern Ireland and Scotland – with heavy rain and winds picking up in the south and west.

The rain will start to clear from the southeast early tomorrow morning but it will remain a day of sunshine with showers elsewhere, the Met said.
The forecasters said it's likely to be damper in the north, with a change of thunderstorms, too.
From mid-week until Friday similar weather is expected – with unsettled conditions.
The Met said it's likely to be torrential and thundery across the country – and especially breezy in the south.

And, the mercury is set to plunge to 8C in the early hours of Friday morning in the Scottish Highlands.
In its long-range forecast for the weekend it said: "A mostly unsettled picture across the UK for much of this period, with a mixture of sunny spells and showers, but also the potential for longer spells of rain from time to time.
"Some of the showers will likely be heavy and thundery at times. With time, low pressure is forecast to become centred to the northeast of the UK, with higher pressure trying to edge in from the southwest.
"Given this synoptic set up, it will often be breezy, although winds may be light towards northeastern areas at first, meaning showers will be slow-moving here.
"With the airmass predominantly originating from the North Atlantic, temperatures will often be on the cool side for the time of year. Perhaps becoming a little more settled by the end of the period."
It comes after the Met yesterday issued a yellow thunderstorm warning.
The forecaster said rain and high winds were set to batter parts of the UK, while temperatures dropped compared to the past few days.
