Transit police officer shot near Scott Road SkyTrain Station
Metro Vancouver Transit Police have confirmed that an officer was shot Wednesday afternoon near the Scott Road SkyTrain station.
Police said it happened around 4 p.m., and that the officer was taken to hospital.
Transit Police described the situation as “unfolding.”
Global News has learned that the officer, Josh Harms, is a two-year member, and that he was shot in the arm and is expected to survive.
TransLink has suspended Expo Line SkyTrain service to Scott Road Station.
Witnesses report multiple units with the Surrey RCMP and Metro Vancouver Transit police on scene, and officers with long guns drawn.
Surrey RCMP said it was responding to a “serious” incident near the Scott Road station, and asked the public to avoid the area entirely.
It said police were looking for an armed suspect who remained at large.
Police added that King George Boulevard was closed at 128th Street.
Police said more information would be provided as soon as possible.
The airspace over the station was also closed.
TransLink implemented a bus bridge to connect Gateway and Scott Road stations.
