Shocked customer spots boy ‘aged nine’ ‘handling raw chicken’ in kitchen of Texas Popeyes restaurant – The Sun

A CUSTOMER at a Popeye's restaurant in Texas was shocked when he witnessed a young lad hard at work in the kitchen.

Footage taken by the punter shows the boy, who appeared to be about "nine years old" and was seen "handling raw chicken before giving it to a male staff worker who went on to cook it".

The sighting reportedly took place on Sunday November 3 at a branch in a suburb of Dallas called The Colony.

The source, who requested to stay anonymous, caught the bizarre situation on his phone camera.

They said: "The child was handling raw chicken before giving it to a male staff worker who went on to cook it.

"He was wearing an apron."

The onlooker claimed the restaurant was "very short staffed" with a line out of the door, and a wait time of at least one hour for chicken.

He said: "While I was there, there was only one person working the front counter and four employees in the kitchen.

"The line was out of the door and even the drive-thru was packed.

"I waited for over an hour for my order.

"The boy kept moving back-and-forth from the kitchen to another area out of view.

"It was so crazy, it needed to be caught on camera."

The customer claimed that one harangued worker left bags of orders at the counter without distributing them, because she had to rush into the kitchen to help prepare the food.

He said: "At one point she actually yelled at an older man who had accidentally taken the wrong bag.

"It was so insane. I was a waiter for a number of years and I've never seen anything like that."

A Popeye's spokesperson told DailyMailTV in the USA: "We took swift action to explore this claim with the franchisee.

"The restaurant owner has terminated the employee who brought their child, a minor, into the kitchen and will fully cooperate with any additional investigations in compliance with state and federal laws.

"The safety of our guests and team is always a priority for us and we take any actions that are outside of our brand and operational standards very seriously."

Popeye has hit the headlines recently after numerous fights have broken out over their spectacularly popular chicken sandwich.

On Monday, November 11, a New York man claimed to have found marijuana in his meal.

Last week a Popeye's employee was filmed body slamming a 55-year-old woman outside a restaurant in Tennessee, leaving her with multiple injuries, including six broken ribs.

And a Popeye's worker has been photographed making chicken sandwiches on top of a trash can.
