Shock moment woman seen CHAINED to floor in decrepit house after captor hacked her hair with machete & barricaded her in | The Sun

SHOCKING police body cam video shows the moment officers rescued a captive woman who was chained to the floor by the neck.

Cops found her barricaded inside the squalid home after neighbours heard her screaming for help from an upstairs window in Kentucky, US.

They attempted to break into the building by kicking down doors and windows before realising the entire ground floor of the home was “completely barricaded”.

Newly released body camera footage of the dramatic rescue shows a crowd standing outside the home, a member of which shouted: “I got a ladder!”

A police officer is then seen ascending the ladder and climbing into a filthy bedroom, where he found the woman sobbing with a heavy chain and lock around her neck.

The Louisville Police Department said: “The woman had a chain around her neck which was secured by a MasterLock, and that chain was bolted to the floor with screws.”

Sparks flew as he took an axe to the chain attached to the floor and set her free.

The woman can be heard crying in the video, apologising and telling police her captor kept the key to the lock around her neck on his keychain.

She was helped downstairs and outside to be assessed and treated by emergency medical services, crying and shaking as firefighters used bolt cutters to remove the locked chain from her neck.

Alleged suspect Moises May, 36, was arrested two days later, according to the department.

It is alleged he trapped the woman inside the house the day after a violent argument during which he held her down, beat her, and chopped her hair off with a machete.

She subsequently left the home but returned the following day to collect her belongings, when May allegedly locked her inside with a deadbolt only he had a key to.

May, who shares a child with the woman, allegedly told her: “You’re gonna get it tonight. I told you the next time you leave and don’t come home, I’d kill you.”

He then slapped her, took her upstairs and chained her, then told her he was going to kill her, later leaving the home with her phone so she could not call for help.

The alleged abuser appeared in court on Saturday on charges of kidnapping, intimidating a participant in the legal process, wanton endangerment, assault, and terroristic threatening and harassment.

He pleaded not guilty and his bond was set at $100,000. May is scheduled to reappear in court on August 28.

  • Familiarise yourself with the Silent Solution, reporting abuse without speaking down the phone, instead dialing “55”.
  • Always keep some money on you, including change for a pay phone or bus fare.
  • If you suspect your partner is about to attack you, try to go to a lower-risk area of the house – for example, where there is a way out and access to a telephone.
  • Avoid the kitchen and garage, where there are likely to be knives or other weapons. Avoid rooms where you might become trapped, such as the bathroom, or where you might be shut into a cupboard or other small space.
