Rescued Susie Goodall says she would try to sail the world again 'in a heartbeat' after she capsized in a storm

The 29-year-old said she still “had that fire in my belly” ten days after she capsized in a storm off South America’s Cape Horn.

Speaking back on dry land in Chile, she added: “You may ask why?!

"Some people just live for adventure. It’s human nature.

"And for me, the sea is where my adventure lies.

“We understand the risks but that’s what makes us stronger and able to overcome other life challenges.”

Susie, the youngest entrant and only woman in the Golden Globe race that started in France on July 1, wept as she hugged her mum and brother — the first time she’d seen them after 157 days alone at sea.

She also thanked the crew of Tian Fu, the Chinese cargo vessel that found her after two days, before getting in an ambulance for checks.

Susie, of Falmouth, Cornwall, said: “I’m still a little wobbly, emotionally and physically, as I find my land legs again.

"But being here is a lot better than the alternative.”
