RCMP investigate homicide of inmate at Atlantic Institution

RCMP are investigating the homicide of an inmate at the Atlantic Institution in Renous, N.B.

The Mounties say officers were called to the facility shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Monday on reports that an inmate had been located badly injured in his cell.

The 27-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was taken to the infirmary and was pronounced dead.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
