Photos show officer brutally beaten after inmate attack in NYC jail

Graphic new photos show a bruised corrections officer with his eye almost swollen shut after an inmate attack in a lower Manhattan jail.

The officer, whose name was not released, suffered fractured bones around his eye and a broken nose when an inmate who refused to get in his cell attacked the guard at the Manhattan Detention Complex around 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Photos obtained by The Post show the officer with a black eye and swollen cheek as he sits for medical treatment. He was expected to get surgery on Tuesday afternoon, according to DOC officials and the union.

The 22-year-old inmate — whose sources identified as Adam Davis, a member of the Guerrilla Stone Bloods — was in the lock-up on charges of assault and robbery.

Davis allegedly walked out of his cell without permission and ignored the officer’s orders before grabbing a captain’s keys, pushing him to ground, according to the incident report obtained by The Post.

The report says Davis punched two others before being stopped.

It took nearly a half dozen officers to get the inmate under control with restraints and pepper spray, the report says.

Davis is expected to be charged in the brutal attack but the charges were still pending Thursday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office did not immediately respond to a request on the status of Davis’ case.
