Pair are arrested on suspicion of child neglect after toddler found wandering streets alone and barefoot
A woman in her 40s and a man in his 30s are being quizzed by police after the youngster, aged between one and two years old, was spotted yesterday in Torquay.
The pair are today being interviewed by specialist child protection officers, while the investigation continues.
Cops confirmed the boy has been taken into police protection and is safe and well.
Neighbours had called police after spotting the boy, claimed to have been without shoes and socks, walking alone in the road.
It was reported he was taken to Torbay Hospital as a precaution, and after several hours cops confirmed his parents had been located.
Yesterday a police spokesman said: “Police were called by residents in Main Avenue at 1.30pm and arrived within five minutes.
“The child was found wandering around the street and has been taken into a property by some of the neighbours.
“The little boy is estimated to be between one and two years old and is said to be happy. He has been given a coat by the people who located him."
