On-the-run wannabe model arrested after police set up fake photoshoot

A 'fugitive' wannabe model has been arrested after police lured her with a dream career by setting up a fake photoshoot.

Biology student Sofia, whose last name has not been disclosed, was originally convicted for drug possession and sentenced to 400 hours compulsory work.

But she dodged the forced labour punishment and absconded, triggering a jail term, according to Russian police.

The 20-year-old is now facing up to 20 years in prison after being detained by the Russian police.

Penal service investigators looked up on Sofia's social media to find that she desperately wanted to be a model.

They asked a model agency in Yekaterinburg to offer her a photoshoot as a bait to arrest Sofia.

Local media reported that Sofia, who was dressed in a mini dress, arrived 'with makeup' for what believed would be her big break in the glamour industry.

But only mugshot-style pictures were taken in her dream shoot.

She was promptly detained and during a search was found to be in possession of 13 packages of mephedrone, each with a magnet attached, alleged law enforcement.

This indicated she was selling drugs and attachment them in secret hiding places for buyers to pick up, police said.

As a result, Sofia now faces more serious charges of acting as an illegal drugs supplier with a maximum penalty of 20 years in jail.

She is currently remanded in custody for two months covering the duration of the criminal investigation.
