NXIVM Leader Keith Raniere Found Guilty of Racketeering & More Charges After Running NY Sex Cult
Keith Raniere, the mastermind behind the NXIVM organization that recruited women as sex slaves, is going to jail as a jury just found him guilty of racketeering, a charge that could put him away for life!
A jury in Brooklyn federal court just needed five hours to decide Keith Raniere’s fate: guilty! The jurors convicted the NXIVM founder of racketeering and other counts on June 19, according to the New York Post. This was the conclusion of a seven-week trial that included testimony from some of Keith’s former sex slaves, who recalled in “dramatic detail” the self-styled guru’s “teachings.” Keith had been accused of running a secret society within NXIVM called DOS – Dominant Over Submissive — in which slaves were tasked with recruiting additional slaves. Those women were starved, branded with Keith’s initials and forced to sleep with him (or perform other sexual acts, according to testimony.)
Other members of NXIVM were charged alongside Keith, and all have pleaded guilty to their roles in this long-running sex cult. Those additional members include president Nancy Salzman, her daughter Lauren Salzman, former Smallville actress Allison Mack and Seagram liquor heiress Claire Bronfman, who bankrolled the group for years.
As for how long Keith will be behind bars, the New York Post reports that racketeering charge alone could put him in jail for life. Keith, who reportedly went by the title “Grandmaster” and “Vanguard” within NXIVM and DOS, did not testify during this trial. We will continue to update this post with more information as it is made available.
